Lucy’s Party Dress
“I made Lucy’s sexy party dress with the snake embroidery peppermint green to match Mina’s green dress. Young girls, when they are friends, often dress similarly. At the same time, I wanted to show how different they were - Lucy a wealthy aristocrat, and Mina from a middle-class family; Lucy a sexually liberated girl who turns into a vampire, Mina prudent and modest. …I used a leaf pattern for Mina’s dress to symbolize peace and intertwining snakes for Lucy’s dress to symbolize eroticism.” (Coppola and Eiko on Bram Stoker’s Dracula, p. 54)

Star Trek Into Darkness costume designer Michael Kaplan readily admits that he wasn’t a Star Trek fan prior to being hired for the 2009 reboot. Still, with iconic sci-fi movies like Blade Runner and Armageddon under his belt, he was confident he could capture and improve the look of Starfleet, updating the occasionally clunky aesthetic of the original series into something long-time fans would still recognize and appreciate: “I certainly want to please Trekkies.”I interviewed the Star Trek Into Darkness costume designer for Wired!!
